For this comic the main idea was to combine digital and traditional art, simulating modern cartoons where they use watercolor backgrounds and digital animation on top.
Inspired by the brief truce during the winter of 1914 in WW1 when soldiers got together on Christmas eve.
I started by doing the background for the comic in watercolor.
Then I scanned the photo and retouched it in Photoshop.

I used the uniforms German and British soldiers used in World War 1 and chose two colors to differentiate them from one another.
So the illustrations would blend more seamlessly with the background I used dark blue for the outlines and a rough brush in Photoshop to give it a more organic look.
